Reno-based artist Jeff Hickman specializes in briskly executed, on-the-spot Caricatures that will enliven the atmosphere of private parties, wedding receptions, bar mitzvahs, corporate gatherings, trade shows and special events.
The series of photos here are from a typical event, in this case a recent outdoor wedding reception at Lake Tahoe.
How it happens: All that’s needed in a trade show booth or special event are two chairs (one for the artist and one for the subject) and the artist’s easel (which Jeff brings). He sets up with his back to traffic, so attendees can see the caricature take shape…that’s when people start to gather…to line up for their caricature or just to watch.
Whether the subjects are kids, couples or individuals, his caricatures are completed in about 3 to 5 minutes (per individual),and great care is taken to make people feel good about their portait…these are not cruel caricatures. The caricatures are drawn in black ink on 11″ x 14″ white paper.
For trade shows, traffic is generated for your booth, and contacts and leads can be established while the drawing takes place. For an extra charge, the caricatures can be drawn on paper pre-printed with your company logo and other marketing information, so the subjects will remember where they got it.
A hand-drawn caricature has “sticky” potential…all Hickman’s portraits stay around long after the event is over. What a great way to make your guests (or best prospects) remember you after your event is long gone. It’s fun and affordable…and a good time is had by all!
Caricature charges: Standard rate is $125.00 per hour. Multiple hour/day rates can be negotiated.
Travel: Outside the Reno/Sparks and Lake Tahoe area where Jeff is based, out-of-pocket travel expenses will be invoiced following the engagement. Estimates can be provided in advance.
